Prof Anwar Hossain speaks on bringing the Bangladesh War Criminals to Justice

In an interview with VOA Bangla Service, Professor Anwar Hossain of the Department of History refutes the claims made by Ali Ahsan al Mujahid of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami that there are no war criminals from the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
Professor Anwar Hossain said that this is historically a wrong claim. He said that there are enough proofs that the Jamaat and its members were involved in War Crimes. He also categorically mentioned that the war in 1971 was the war of liberation and not a civil war.
Professor Hossain also said that Jamaat -e-Islami and all those political parties which opposed the liberation of Bangladesh should not be allowed to register as a legal political party in Bangladesh .He stressed on the point that there cannot be any political party in the name of Islam and added that the Jamaat-e-Islami in Bangladesh was misinterpreting both religion and politics.
